Can a person be judged just by his or her complexion? In a country based on socialist and democratic ideals, a new version of segregation raises its ugly head in the form of colour bias. Practiced with zealot fervour, it is a pejorative, finding a breeding ground amongst the so-called more ‘educated and elite’.
One of Zee TV's most popular shows, ‘Saat Phere - Saloni Ka Safar’ explores this unreasonable preoccupation with the transparency of the skin over that of the mind and character of a person, through the eyes of Saloni. The protagonist Saloni (Rajashree Thakur), a dark-complexioned twenty-four year old girl, is faced with stigma forced upon her by society. She also finds that her talents are overshadowed by her complexion. Being a resolute young woman, Saloni decides not to get bogged down by the age-old myths and gathers the courage to search for her own identity. ‘Saat Phere - Saloni Ka Safar’ is a heartwarming tale which is still popular for rendering intense emotions through its story and characters.
Neel thinks that Saloni has changed her mind. Saloni, however decides to choose her duty before love. Kaveri expresses her desire to invite Nahar and his family for dinner, to Samar and takes the entire responsibility on herself. Saloni and Ambica are impressed with Kaveri's gesture. Two people from the anti-corruption bureau reach Narpat's house while Narhar's family is visiting.
Saloni is surprised that Nahar does not have any grudges against her. Neel's friend Rohit meets him and questions him about Saloni. Bhabo asks Nahar to drop Saloni home. After reaching home Mano Bhabhi narrates all the incidents that took place at Nahar's place with Saloni, all to Saloni's surprise. Mano Bhabhi taunts Kaveri and the latter is furious. She immediately calls Choudhary and starts plotting. Saloni meets Neel in the temple. Why?
Narpat requests them to postpone their taking him to the police station. Ambica, Samar and Mano Bhabhi plead with Brijesh and his family to stay back. Saloni stops Brijesh and talks about her father. Brijesh decides to stop the marriage but Nahar and Bhabo request Brijesh to rethink. Brijesh meets the head honcho of the anti-corruption bureau and the truth is revealed. Brijesh and Nahar bring Narpat home. As a token of respect and adoration Saloni gifts Nahar her favoured idol of Lord Ganesh.
