Ravan has always been the villain in the popular consciousness - the flawed polar and opposite of Maryada Purushottom Ram or Lord Ram. Though Ravan had an aggressive and arrogant nature, he was an exemplary scholar. Ravan’s role in Ramayana was of an antagonist, but he had many humble qualities.
