Koshish Ek Aashaa

A jubilant Kajal informs her mother and sister, Ruchi, that she has topped her university exams. However, her mother gets an unexpected marriage proposal of Neeraj for Kajal. A rather reluctant Kajal gives her consent to meet the Neeraj's parents. When Neeraj's parents immediately take a liking to Kajal, she agrees to marry but sets a condition.

An annoyed Kajal informs her would be in-laws that she will not go ahead with the marriage until she meets Neeraj. However, her future mother-in-law, Rekha, cajoles her into agreeing. On the eve of her marriage, Kajal's mother counsels her to play the role of a wife effectively, an advice that Kajal will remember for all times to come. While the pundits chant the mantras binding Kajal and Neeraj forever, a greater truth desperately tries to make itself known.

On the wedding night, Kajal realizes that she has been duped into marrying a mentally-challenged person. Her desperate cries to escape from that room go unanswered. The next morning, Kajal decides to go back to her mother's home, but a phone call stops her.

Ruchi's adoration for Kajal's in-laws makes her force Kajal to attend the ceremony at her in-laws' place. Kajal meets Suniti who is the wife of Neeraj's younger brother Sudhir. Kajal is shocked to find that the younger brother has been married even before the elder one. Kajal suspects that there may be more things about Neeraj that she is unaware of. Will Kajal ever discover the hidden truths?

Sudhir is peeved with Suniti for taking Neeraj to the hospital to meet Kajal. When Ruchi enquires about Neeraj, Kajal breaks down and reveals everything about him. Stuck in a loveless marriage, Suniti finds two film tickets belonging to Sudhir. While Ruchi has to deal with a cumbersome Kamla, Sudhir scolds Neeraj for interrupting a business call. A protective Rekha steps in to save Neeraj from Sudhir's anger.

As a mother, Rekha's heart always cries for Neeraj. While Kajal and Suniti develop a mutual understanding, a drunk Sudhir is confronted by his father. A distraught Kajal wakes up from a nightmare. Will Kajal ever be able to face the demons of her mundane life?

Recapitulating the incidents of the entire week, this episode captures the essence of all the previous episodes. Beginning with Kajal's marriage proposal and her first meeting with her would be in-laws, it traverses through her wedding and the realizations thereafter. We get introduced to the other characters that influence Kajal's actions all throughout: Kajal's nightmarish wedding night with Neeraj, Suniti's loveless marriage, Ruchi's adoration for Kajal's in-laws, Rekha's love for Neeraj and a horde of hidden truths that harass Kajal.

Oblivious of Sudhir's and Suniti's loveless marriage, Rekha expresses to Suniti her desire to have a grandchild. An annoyed Kajal is unable to relate to the childish pranks that Neeraj plays on her. As Kajal's mother is discharged from the hospital, both Kajal and her in-laws make desperate attempts to hide the facts. Rekha gives some money to Kajal for safekeeping, but when she asks for it back, Kajal finds Neeraj playing with the notes. An irate Kajal scolds Neeraj only to get reprimanded by Rekha. Rekha later cajoles Kajal and gives her the keys to the safe.

Neeraj insists on going to the temple with Rekha, but his father decides to send Kajal instead. To her surprise, Kajal finds Neeraj in the car and quite unwillingly, allows him to come with her. While Kajal is immersed in her prayers, a riot breaks out. She turns around to find Neeraj being beaten by a mob that has mistaken the mentally-feeble Neeraj for a thief. A flustered Kajal hastens to defend Neeraj and acknowledges the fact that he is her husband. All throughout the day, Kajal comes to terms with a marriage that necessitates her to accept the fact that there would only be sacrifices on her part... those that will not be conceded... a realization that her marriage would be a lone struggle... that there would be help, but nobody to share her fate.

Dinesh reprimands Rekha on being negligent towards Neeraj. A desolate Suniti cannot tell Rekha about her unhappy marriage. Rehka, on the other hand, desperately wants a grandchild, so she frequently questions Suniti about their conjugal status. A sullen Sudhir finds solace in the company of Mona. The next day, Suniti discovers a ring in one of Sudhir's coat pockets.
