Ramkishen (Alok Nath) and his wife Mamta (Reema Lagoo) live with their three sons - Vivek (Mohnish Behl), Prem (Salman Khan), and Vinod (Saif Ali Khan). Prem and Vinod have sweethearts in Preeti and Sapna (Sonali Bendre and Karisma Kapoor), and soon Vivek marries Sadhana (Tabu). Ramkishen's only daughter, Sangeeta (Neelam) is married to Anand (Mahesh Thakur). Ramkishen's dream is to have all his sons and daughter-in-laws stay together, sharing with each other life's joys and sorrows. However, one day, Sangeeta and Anand face family problems and have to move out of their ancestral home. Pained for her daughter, Mamta, now, starts worrying about the future of her own sons. Since Vivek is Mamta's step-son, she schemes to disinherit him. This divides the family, even though Vivek accepts her wishes. How will Prem and Vinod react to this? Will Ramkishen ideals prevail?
