'Meendum Gauravam' is the story of eminent lawyer Sathyanathan
(B. Rajeev) and his family which consists of his wife Savithri (Sindhu) and
his two children Raksha and Murali. Sathyanathan is a successful lawyer and
has created history by winning all the cases that he has undertaken. But his
success has also won him many enemies. He loses a case for the first time.
But for Sathyanathan it is not just a case, but his honour that is at stake.
As the interesting story unfolds, we see the twist of time in his personal
and professional life.
The episode opens to a scene in court. Sathyanathan argues on behalf of Ramachandran who is an accussed in a murder case. He questions Mrs. Malini, a businesswoman. She also happens to be the wife of his colleague Kanakaraj. Sathyanathan wins the case, but Kanakaraj is upset that his wife has been dragged into this. We are introuduced to Sathyanathan's wife Savithri who is an illiterate woman, his son Murali and his daughter Raksha. Raksha is a playful, chirpy youngester. She loses a bet to her friend. As she needs money, she lies to her father. But it seems like Raksha will be caught red-handed.
Sathya is felicitated for 25 glorious years of service in his profession. As he and his family celebrate, they are unaware of a Kanakaraj's feelings. Kanakaraj feels that he has been insulted by Sathya and is unable to forgive him. He seeks revenge against Sathya. We are introduced to Sabapathy who arrives in Chennai from a village.
Sabapathy is the caretaker of Sathya's properties in the village. He has great regard for Sathya and his wife Savithri. Sathya throws a party to commemorate his success. But the fun is spoiled by a stranger who walks in uninvited and speaks lowly about Sathya and his achievements. The guests are stunned and wonder who he is.
Savithri is furious at the stranger's behaviour. She lashes out at him. But this emotional outburst of hers reveals that she is not an illiterate woman, but a lawyer herself. The stranger is Kannan (Prabhu), a good friend of Sathya, and had put up this act to make Savithri speak up. Sathya travels back in time and narrates how he fell in love with her. He also reveals the sacrifice she made in order to win his love and companionship for the rest of her life.
Raksha and her friends want to attend a music concert. Raksha plays a prank in order to enter the hall. Her fathers' juniors, Venkat and Raghu bring this to her parent's notice. They are furious. Is Raksha in trouble again?
Sathya prepares a witness in order to win a case. But someone leaks this information out and Sathya loses the case in court. Kanakaraj uses this opoortunity and insults him. For Sathya, the bigger loss is that he has lost his honour since he is accused of producing a false witness. He is terribly upset. He feels that there is traitor in his camp. He finds an important clue to trace him out.
Sathya suspects Nagarajan, his peon, to be the culprit. His suspicion comes true. He is devastated when he lerans that Nagarajan let greed overcome his loyalty. He flings words of anger at him and dismisses him from his job. Nagarajan, on the other hand, feels insulted by Sathya. But Nagarajan's wife pleads with Sathya's wife Savithri for forgiveness. She also threatens that if Nagarajan is not re-employed, she will commit suicide.
Savithri convinces Sathya to give Nagarajan a second chance. Although Sathya is not convinced, he gives in. Murali, Sathya's son, tries to help someone in distress, but he gets into trouble instead. He is arrested by the police.
Murali is bailed out of trouble through a family friend. A surprise awaits Murali as he finds out that the police officer who arrested him is the family friend's daughter Kritika. The duo is unaware that Kritika's parents are already toying with the idea of getting them married to each other. Sathya, on the other hand, gets into a tiff with IPS officer Kritika.
Sathya is also a selfless social worker. He spends a large amount of his earnings in people's welfare. He has conquered the hearts of many because of this quality of his. One day, he has a surprise visitor in Damodaran who reveals that he was sentenced to life imprisonment because of Sathya for no fault of his. Sahtya is undeterred by his arguments since he feels that Damodaran was guilty and was punished for it. But as Damodaran recollects the past, we learn what exactly happened in his life.
Damodaran was an honest and hardworking employee. But his employer misuses his loyalty. Angered and hurt, Damodaran goes to his employer's house to ask for justice. But an accident occurs and Damodaran lands up in jail. Unable to handle this, his entire family commits suicide. However, since Sathya argued his case, Damodaran holds him responsible for his irreparable loss. He now wants Sahtya to pay for his deeds.
Savithri tells her husband that she has chosen Kritika to be her daughter-in-law. They visit Kritika's father in Arunachalam to finalise the wedding date. Meanwhile, Damodaran and Kanakaraj realise that they have a common enemy, Sathyanathan. They chalk out a plan to take revenge on Sathya.
